Don Rickles Biography

Don Rickles, an American comedian, author and actor was born in New York. He was among the most highly-respected entertainment talent. His quick wit, humorous remarks and genuine love for his audience made him an irresistible combination. He brought joy, laughter and entertainment to many. Due to his ability to make an inoffensive insult sound funny and humorous, he was a regular participant in celebrity roast circuits. His insults were often hurtful and mean however he could make his audience laugh. He began his career as a standard comedian performing rehearsed jokes however, he changed his plans when he realized that the audience loved his spontaneous insults more than the prepared material. His style endeared him to a number of fans that included the great Frank Sinatra. He had two comedy albums, and appeared in many TV and film shows. He has been the recipient of many awards such as a Lifetime Achievement' Award at The Comedy Awards. Don Rickles had only small TV roles when his graduation. To earn a living, he started performing stand-up comedy, and later created his "insult comedian" persona. He began the 1970s in an important role in the film 'Kelly's Heroes' (1970), starring Clint Eastwood. He appeared on a variety of television comedy shows like The Dean Martin Roasts' (1973) or The Don Rickles Program' (1972). Barbara Sklar married Don Rickles on the 14th of March in 1965. The couple had two kids including daughter Mindy and son Larry. Their son passed away on December 31, 2011. Bob Newhart was their best friend and they frequently took holidays together. They been on numerous shows together, including  Newhart.' Don Rickles died of kidney failure on the 6th of April, 2017 in his home in Beverly Hills, California.
