Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress from France. She was a student at the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris. Her role includes Loup (2009) as well as Sleepless Night (2011). She plays the role of Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was born in Quebec City to a Korean father and a French-Russian mother. He was employed as a consul with the French government. Eugene Klementieff was her grandfather. Pom was her name because it sounded like the Korean words "spring" and 'tiger" in Korean. Klementieff was in Canada for a year prior to her family travelled extensively due to her father's employment. They lived in Japan and the Ivory Coast, before settling in France. Klementieff's father, who died at the age of 5 from cancer was her mother. She also suffered from schizophrenia and couldn't care for her children. Klementieff was raised with her aunt and paternal uncle. Her uncle, who she described as "like her father" passed away at the age of 18 years old. Klementieff's older brother who took his own life seven years later, was also her aunt. After her uncle's passing, Klementieff was a law student for a brief time to delight her aunt. However, she didn't find the career path appealing. In France, she worked as a waitresse and saleswoman. She began acting when she was 19, at the Cours Florent theatre school in Paris. She was just a few months in studying when she was awarded an audition for a stage show that gave her free two-years of classes with the top teachers in the school. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of Catherine Deneuve in Apres lui (2006) which was her first acting job professionally. Three days were spent on filming her scenes. In one scene, Klementieff was to help push someone down a flight of stairs but she fell her way down the stairs, as did director Gael Morel recorded that scene in the film. Loup (2009) was her debut film with a leading role. It's an French film about a group of Siberian mountain reindeer herders. She filmed for hours in an isolated camp away from the closest village. The temperatures dropped to minus zero during filming.
